Best things to know before you go to Sydney

Sydney is my beloved home town and i have stayed in here for many years, giving me the upper hand in discovering its hidden beauty and its well-kept secrets that perhaps tourists may not know.

Though i don’t live a street away from George St, the main street in the city, i am still relatively close to the city.

If you chose to have a Sydney holiday, the best way to get to the heart of Sydney is to take the train. The scenery from the local suburbs into the city itself via train is quite breath taking, even for someone like me who’s lived in Sydney for quite a long time.

The 3 best things in Sydney.

Every single day countless photographs of the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge though i think there are things which deserve more attention.

The first being the city’s sky monorail. The monorail travels around the city not on ground level but above the streets and through skyscrapers, giving the best possible view of the city. It makes stops at every major attraction the city has to offer, including the famous Sydney Aquarium and every other thing listed in the tourist guide. During evening especially when the sun is setting, the city looks its best.

Another favourite of my activities to do in Sydney during evenings is to take the THUNDER JET located at Circular Quay. The folks there do not lie when they say you’ll get your $25 worth in your teeth gritting ride around the Sydney Harbour.

There is also at times a street performer entertaining the crowd with their daredevil tricks and good humour which i quite like.

One more final best thing to do in Sydney in the evenings is to enter the Centre Point Tower. The tallest tower in all of Australia, standing so high that the crowd below look like ants. The tower holds special events where people can walk onto a glass platform which extends over the edge of the tower. It is simply the best way to Sydney just how big and crowded Sydney really is or to simply try and see the horizon. Though i kid you not when i say that it is not for the faint hearted, despite being very safe and secure. I wouldn’t recommend it for people with fear of heights.

Let the tourist guide ramble on and on about the history of the place while i introduced to you something unexpected. A newspaper. The MX newspaper seems just like any other newspaper but inside it, you will find a section called “Over Heard”. This little sections sometimes contains hilarious jokes or simply utterly stupid things that people have over-heard.

How much do things cost in Sydney.

Westfields is named Sydney biggest shopping centers but i dont really fancy that much. The goods sold are pretty expensive for me but if you can afford it, then it is worth the money. A great piece of clothing can cost as much $200 or as little as $20. There is no guide line or limit as to how much things can cost, especially with parking fees. Parking fees are rediculously high, as much as $20 per hour.

One thing that i will mention that is cheap is probably the coffee, ranging from $2 to $4. Apart from that, everything else is relatively expensive compared to US and many other countries.

My favourite restaurant.

My favourite restaurant will have to be OutDoor restaurant at circular. As the name suggests, it’s out doors. They provide excellent service and delicious food with a variety of meals to choose from. You have the choice to sit inside in the shade while eating or if you’re anything like me, you’ll probably enjoy it better sitting in the warm sun to eat your meal.

Others may not agree with everything I’ve said but i know MY Sydney.
