Who can forget the iconic scene in “Pretty Woman” in which Julia Roberts is showered with clothes and gifts while on a shopping spree on LA’s Rodeo Drive?
Well, if you’re headed to Los Angeles, you can reenact every bit of it, just for a high price.
Shopping in the City of Angels is, well, divine. There is everything a girl could want, from couture designers and traditional department stores vintage boutiques and eclectic shops. During your next LA shopping trip check out some of these hot spots.
Beverly Hills and West side
Notorious for its opulence the shopping in Beverly Hills is unrivaled. This prestigious neighborhood frequented by celebrities boasts the designs of several couture retailers like Chanel, YSL and Stella McCartney and smaller high-end boutiques.
In the 16-street-block known as the Golden Triangle, sits the legendary Rodeo Drive. Dolce & Gabbana, Missoni and Tiffany and Co. all call this street home. After shopping, stop for a tasty treat like a sumptuous cupcake from Sprinkles – flagship bakery in Beverly Hills launched the gourmet cupcake craze. If you’re feeling really indulgent, head to the Spa at the Peninsula Beverly Hills for one of the many treatments that use diamonds, emeralds and sapphires.
The Grove
This gorgeous outdoor mall has numerous designer shops and some that are more reminiscent of typical American malls like Barney’s, Gap and Lucky. It is known for its expansive movie theatre and Farmers Market. If you’re lucky, you may catch a taping of a show or movie.
Hollywood
Hollywood Boulevard may not be the best for shopping unless you’re picking up touristy trinkets and souvenirs while taking in the Walk of Fame, Grauman’s Chinese Theatre and the Kodak Theatre. Nonetheless, it’s a must visit. If you are in the market for drool-worthy and luxurious lingerie, stop by Fredericks of Hollywood. Along Melrose Avenue, you’ll find everything, including trendy shops like Dian Von Furstenberg and Marc Jacobs and several art galleries.
Santa Monica
This beach scene is perfect for visiting small and eclectic boutiques and people watching. For vintage finds, check out Jill Roberts and Savannah on Montana Avenue. Along the Third Street Promenade, dancers and street performers provide fun and engaging entertainment.
Downtown LA
The LA Fashion District is the heart of LA fashion. With thousands of stores spread out over 100 blocks, you’re sure to find quality goods at discounted prices – much like the clothes, accessories and designer bags at Avenue 32.
After all the shopping, relax Hollywood style, by checking out the latest screening of a movie at the Grove or heading to one of the top restaurants in town. You just may see a celebrity or two at Katsuya Hollywood, Spago or Ivy.
