Quick Bio
Anthony (Anthony Michael Maestu) - Bass / guitar Lead Vocals, multi instrumentalist, relentless, runs the band.
Dean (Thomas Dean Maestu) - Drums / Vocals, sick sense of time , thumper, declared a prodigy by his short lived Drum instructor.
The band started as two brothers [Anthony and Dean ], bashing away in a room recklessly. A cd followed about a year later, with their father, Santana's guitarist, Tommy Anthony, sitting in on guitar, and after a few lineups and about a dozen gigs, they became SoundGlass, once again keeping it in the family , with the brothers locking it all down, the old man playing way too loud, and guest guitarists sitting in now and again.
Lights out, high energy rock . Loud is GOOD. Play it right , play it for real or don't do it all . No posers , no astronaut microphones, no cute outfits or dancers.
SOUNDGLASS
The band started out with brothers Anthony Michael (Bass/ Vocals) and Thomas Dean Maestu (Drums/ Background Vocals) jamming in a spare bedroom in their home . After progressing rapidly on their instruments, they were looking for a guitarist to form a a band . They flirted with a few peers, had fun, but having no long term solution, "settled" on their father, Tommy Anthony, member of the legendary band, Santana.
They recorded a 5 song CD for friends and family in December of 2010 and, and found themselves playing occasionally at local gigs hosted by family and friends. Once some momentum built, the decision was made to commit to something a bit more serious , and they became Soundglass .
The two brothers have always been best friends and partners in just about everything from sports to video games and all points in between. Dad has been a constant source of guidance, inspiration and most often , honesty. Together, they rock hard and loud, with a passion , energy and love that could only come from family.
Anthony Michael
Born November 3rd, 1995, Anthony was inspired to pick up the bass guitar when he was 11, after watching Mark King's bass solo ,
from footage of Level 42 Live at Wembley Stadium. He immediately fell for with the instrument and pursued it relentlessly.
He started taking lessons at the Miami School of Rock when he was 12 ,and advanced quickly. He later took to studying the theory behind many different styles of bass such as rock, funk, jazz, blues, and even latin music. Through his lessons, he was introduced to the bass playing of musicians that would later set his standards for greatness: Jaco Pastorius, James Jamerson , and Paul McCartney.
He is a multi instrumentalist, playing guitar with extreme competence and drums as well . As a vocalist, his approach is intuitive, untrained , straight from the heart, and always real.
Personal Interests - MMA , NFL ,Classic Films, WW2 history, Video games, Logic.
Thomas Dean
Born December 5th, 1997, Dean was on and off of the drumset since he was 4 years old. He began taking it seriously when he turned 10 , while playing with his older brother. He joined the School of Rock and took lessons briefly. He didn't have much patience for the rudiments his instructor was teaching him, so he dumped the classes after 3 months, and decided to go it alone.
Thomas initally overdosed on John Bonham , Chad Smith, Taylor Hawkins and Eric Kreutz . Recently expanding his palette, he has grown passionate about more diverse approaches to drumming, such as the fusion of Aaron Mellergardh of Dirty Loops, the soulful grooves of Dennis Chambers and Michael Clemons, and the progressive rock of Neil Peart.
Personal Interests - Sports, Performance Cars, Motorcycles , Paintball , Video games.
